Notes from

The Minoans

Rodney Castleden

29 Early Minoan II potter (2600-2300BC) is reminiscent of Syrian, as are teh seals, which points to trade with the Levant.

29 Early Minoans used domed round tombs in the same way as in Anatolia. The history goes back beyond 3000 BC, and bronze comes into the picture around 3000 BC.

30. Linear A may be related to Luvian (Anatolia)

32 It is suggested that Gaza was a Minoan town.

32 There is no sign whatever of self-aggrandizing rulers

37. There is a tradition that the Philistines were Minoan Cretans (refugees from the post-Thera collapse?)
